Lazy Sundays

Ah Sunday.  Lazy day.  God’s day if you will, I mean I won’t because I’m not religious, but still, it’s good to cover all your bases.

Happy Birthday Blog

Where does the time go?  My blog is one year old today, hurrah!  Admittedly, it hasn’t all been plain sailing and I’ve had a few little (over a month or so long) breaks during this time, but still, one year on and my little space on the world wide web is still here.

During the space of one year my blog has had several overhauls with different layouts and blog headers, hell, it’s good to experiment!  And although I like the way my blog looks now, I’m sure a little way down the line it will change again, I guess I just like designing stuff, my artistic ways have to be made good somewhere right?!?

Anywho, so yup, it’s weird how so much can change in the space of a year, the other day I read back through some old posts and it’s weird how many memories are stored in a blog, so much that otherwise you would have forgotten.

So what I’ve learnt is that blogging, although a lovely little hobby, and a good place to show off whatever you’re wearing, is also, quite a personal, online journal, albeit shared with the world.

Unlike most things this is a hobby I have stuck with, I love doing and hopefully always will be something I keep up.  I can’t wait to see what more will come of this blog and am looking forward to another year of posting, happy days :)

In keeping with the whole sentimental thing, I figured I would a have a look back at some of my favourite outfits I’ve posted over the past year, and here they are:

Happy birthday blog and here’s to another year!

Lots of Love,

London Calling

“London Calling, now don't look at us
Phony Beatleamania has bitten the dust”

This post’s TUNE comes from The Clash.  Ah The Clash, a legendary band with some amazing tunes.  I have to be honest, Rock the Casbah is my personal favourite, however, given that this post is kinda half outfit post, half day out in London, the title seemed appropriate.  Of course, this is still an complete banger so little ones, get your little ear holes around this one and listen to the tune here and check out their website here.

Riiiiiiiiight…..

Coat: Tesco (£35.00)
Shirt: Primark (£12.00)
Jeans: Primark (£11.00)
Watch/Bracelets: Urban Outfitters / Topshop / New Look (old)
Daps: Primark (£6.00)
Satchel: Camden Market (old)
Headscarf: Primark (£2.50)

So last Monday my sister and I (ooh, posh English there) took a trip to London town.  The above outfit is what I wore, I had to take the pictures separate as I didn’t take any pictures of me actually in London… #epicfail #notaverygoodblogger.

None the less, other than being extremely wet (oh yes, it absolutely poured down), it was a good day, mainly because I was a) in London, and b) shopping.  I didn’t really buy a lot though, I guess the rain had dampened my shopping mojo, but I did get me some gorgeous navy disco pants, happy days!

We divided our time between Camden and Oxford Street, and although I love Camden beyond comprehension, I did find out that Camden in the rain just doesn’t work! Oh well, I guess I will have to go up there again soon!

My outfit is pretty simple, jeans and a shirt are always a staple in my wardrobe, but I think the head scarf adds something a bit extra, well enough to make me feel just that little bit more at home in Camden.  Normally everything is kinda just dug out the back of my wardrobe, but shockingly on this occasion everything is new!!

My converse style shoes are from Primark for just £6.00, I love them, they’re comfy and they look like a damn good alternative for the actual things that cost so much more.

Also, as you may know, I really wanted a Barbour coat, but at two hundred quid a pop at least they were always gonna be a bit out of my price range, but again, this coat from Tesco is a damn good alternative and I absolutely love it!

Finally this is one of my birthday presents, a leather backpack.  I’ve been on the lookout for a leather backpack for aaages, but they always seem to cost so much.  However, when I spotted this little beauty on ebay, which is being sold from a stall at Camden market I was straight onto my boyfriend to convince him that I just absolutely needed this backback, needed it!!!  Fortunately (for him), I think I’m quite a reasonable girlfriend as this bag only cost £35.00, what a bargain!

So yup, that’s it, hope you liked the outfit, let me know what you think.

Peace,

Goody Hoo

I'm all for supporting local brands and companies and after finding out that Gwdihŵ (pronounced 'goody hoo' for all you non welsh folk) was a little company producing lovely balms up in north Wales I was straight on the old facebook to contact them and ask if I could help promote them through my blog. (and breath... that was quite a long sentence...)

So after a few days of contacting them I was sent two samples to try:

and

I would like to point out that since receiving them about a week ago they have been popped into my handbag and taken every where with me, and will continue to do so!  This is because I think I am in love with both of these products.  Yes thats right, you heard me correctly I love them, not in the same way I love my family or boyfriend, in a perfectly socially acceptable love of makeupy kind of things way.

So first things first, a little bit about Gwdihŵ.  Well the most important thing is that they are welsh, which instantly makes them amazing, although I may be a bit biased there.  Also all of their balms are 100% natural, which for someone like me with skin that doesn't take well to quite a lot of stuff it's a god send!  There are also loads of balms available, such as first aid balm and magic muscle rub all of which come in handy little tubs perfect for chucking in the old hand bag.

Now, lets get down to the nitty gritty, the reviews!

Well I don't know about you but I've never seen any other lip balms that smell of orange and lemon, but I can tell you that they are all seriously missing out, because this is a damn good flavour!  The smell is absolutely gorgeous, and although it's quite strong smelling when you apply, it doesn't leave a weird taste behind like some other flavour lip balms out there.

The biggest plus for me is that it really does leave my lips feeling moisturised for longer than my other lip balm and I find myself reaching for it less as I actually don't need to, hooraah!  The consistency is thicker and a lot less greasy than other balms and therefore doesn't look quite as glossy on your lips.

Overall I am so happy with my little lip balm and will most definitely be ordering some more, and at £4.49 I can actually afford to - now thats got to be a plus side right!!

I've never really been one for looking after my nails, occasionally they may get the odd bit of nail varnish on them, but other than the obligatory trim they never get any attention the poor things.  So really it's just aswell that I was sent this sample pot as I think it's about time I turned my sorry habits around!

The balm comes in the same size tin as the lip balm (the same size as the vaseline lip balms), and therefore is very handy to carry around with you, as for someone like me it means that I have no excuse now for forgetting to look after my nails.

The consistency is more greasy than the lipbalm and takes a little while to soak in, but once again has a gorgeous lemon scent so you can sit there smelling you finger nails and maybe appearing mental whilst waiting for it but still, it's totally worth it.

So far my cuticles so feel a little softer, they are normally very dry and look a bit worse for wear but there is definitely improvement there and I can imagine it's the perfect product to apply to nails straight after removing nail varnish.

Overall I love both these products and as a sucker for a bit of cute packaging (who doesn't love cute little owls on the front of their products), then I, my friends, am sold!

Peace,

I Get Around

“Seconds to your elevator from the station
How can I resist that kinda invitation”

This post’s TUNE comes from Dragonette.  I got to say, I now realise that this is a bit of a dodgy title to be posting, it does imply something else, but that is honestly not the case... Moving on haha. Ok, so I don’t really know much of their work other than this song, but I do know thats it’s quite likely you would have heard this lady’s voice on ‘Hello’, the Martin Solveig song, look it up, you’ll know the one.  So yup, this is a blinkin’ tune and I recommend you go and check it out, which you can do so here, and you can have a little look at the website here.

Well then, lets throw another outfit into the mix...

T-shirt: Topshop (£5.00, sale)
Headscarf: Primark (£2.50)
Jeans: River Island (£20.00, sale)
Hightops: Sports Direct (£22.99)
Rucksack: Primark (old)
Watch/Bracelets:Topshop / Newlook (old)

Another day, another outfit.  I am really loving the oversized t shirts at the moment, and as this one was on sale in Topshop for only a fiver (I know, I didn’t think you could get anything in Topshop for a fiver anymore), I most certainly had to have it.  I also love just how thick the material is on this tee, I’m so fed up of buying t-shirts that are so thin you have to wear a vest top underneath, so it’s nice to actually find one which is made out of some proper stuff.  How come things cost more these days and the material is so much worse than it used to be?

Anywho, sorry about that little sideline about clothing quality there but you know, it’s good to get it off your chest.  Yup, so I teamed my lovely quality over sized tee with another sale purchase from River Island, my new boyfriend jeans.  I can’t remember the last time I bought jeans that weren’t skinny, I think it’s been many, many years, but it’s good to branch out every now and again.  Although I do love these jeans I don’t think I will be straying too far from the good old skinnies, these are lovely but you do seem more limited to what they actually look good with.

Finally I stuck on my still shiny and new white hightops and added a headscarf, which by the way I am loving right now, as I have discovered that not only do they look damn cool, but coming up to winter they are an amazing way to keep your little ear holes warm!

So this weekend was pretty ordinary really, went walking and out exploring some our lovely welsh countryside, however, yesterday I went to London, which is as contrasting as you can get.  I went to do a spot of shopping with my sister, visiting good old Camden and Oxford street.  I didn’t really get much, I was all set to spend a fortune, but I blame the weather as it literally did not stop raining all day, booooo!

And that folks is it, hope you enjoyed!

Buh Bye,
